| CAM Cougar football players are involved in community service this year as they listen to Anita Elementary | ||||||||

| Atlantic | School To Work Program | |||||||
| The Atlantic School-to-Work program is a cooperative effort of the Atlantic business community and the school system | ||||||||

| which is funded cooperatively by businesses, the schools, and the local school foundation. | ||||||||

| Bettendorf/Pleasant Valley | The Business and Education Partnership | |||||||
| Bettendorf's Business and Education Partnership developed an assessment examining work ethic among student | ||||||||
| learners. The characteristics were described as: Initiative and Drive, Teamwork, Accountability, Problem solving, and | ||||||||
| Reliability. It was administered to students in both Junior and Senior High schools with results triggering new initiatives | ||||||||

| Center Point/Urbana | LJL Hall Pavilion-Veterans Memorial | |||||||
| The Center Point Urbana High School Service Learning class, in a collaborative effort with local organizations, constructed | ||||||||

| Our school district and the communities we serve are working together to meet identified needs. A satellite campus | ||||||||
| of Northeast Iowa Community College is located in Cresco. Howard County's Home Visiting Program is now managed | ||||||||
| by the school district. The district's after-school program serves about 152 students a day. | ||||||||

| Davenport | Mississippi Mosaic Mural Project/Chad Pregracke Visit | |||||||
| LaFarge Corporation provided a unique learning experience for students of Buffalo School by sponsoring a presentation | ||||||||
| by river environmentalist, Chad Pregracke, to enhance classroom knowledge. The students are producing a river mosaic | ||||||||
| mural for their new school. Thirty students and teachers also visited Chad's classroom barge for first hand activities. | ||||||||

| Davenport | Girl Culture | |||||||
| High school and intermediate school students in the Davenport Schools explored provocative contemporary issues | ||||||||
| they face growing up in today's American culture through a variety of programs planned by the school district, the | ||||||||
| Davenport Museum of Art, and other collaborating institutions. The starting point for this investigation is Girl Culture, | ||||||||
| an exhibition of photographic works by nationally known photographer Lauren Green showing May 21 through July 6 | ||||||||

| Davenport | Stepping Stones Environmental Academy | |||||||
| The Stepping Stones Environmental Academy at Smart Intermediate school helps generate student interest in our | ||||||||
| natural environment and creates opportunities for hundreds of young people in the area of environmental science and | ||||||||
| outdoor education. Hands-on activities and living learning labs are the foundation of the project. This should lead to | ||||||||
| an increase in student achievement in science, and lead to lifelong appreciation and exploration evidenced through | ||||||||
| involvement in higher education and career paths related to science and the environment. This academy joins | ||||||||
| environmental education with service learning. Participants are engaged in an ongoing neighborhood service project | ||||||||
| that combines environmental education with community involvement and leadership development. | ||||||||

| Emmetsburg | Bring the Track Back | |||||||
| Local citizens envisioned a need to construct an all-weather track to serve the communities needs. They approached | ||||||||
| the school district with a plan to raise all of the necessary funds from donations. The result is a beautiful 8-lane track | ||||||||
| for community and school use. | ||||||||

| The S.T.A.R (Students and Teachers Acquiring Results) project is funded through the 21st CCLC program. The | ||||||||
| project has made incredible progress in the community of Estherville offering programs for senior citizens, adults, | ||||||||
| Teens, children, and infants. The program encompasses everything from community education and events to afterschool | ||||||||

| Forest City Elementary and RSVP have joined together to establish a Reading Buddies program for students in this | ||||||||

| volunteers have a change to make a difference in the life of a child. | ||||||||

| Grinnell | Grinnell High School Capital Fundraising Campaign | |||||||
| The Grinnell High School Capital Fundraising Campaign exceeded its' goal of $3.5 million in pledges for high school | ||||||||
| building improvements totaling $10.6 million. The private fundraising drive, along with board allocations of local option | ||||||||
| sales taxes, spurred the passage of a $4.2 million bond issue by area residents. | ||||||||

| Humbolt | Construction of a Multipurpose Facility for the School and Community | |||||||
| The Wildcat Booster Club led the community in identifying the need for a facility; then researched, designed, and | ||||||||
| constructed that facility for the school and community. The building includes a permanent weight training facility and | ||||||||
| multipurpose room (60 x 100) which is valued at $250,000 plus equipment. | ||||||||

| Lawton/Bronson | Emergency Medial Svcs. Student First Responder Pgm. | |||||||
| This program is a partnership program between the community of Lawton and the Lawton-Bronson consolidated School | ||||||||
| District. The students are responsible for providing critical emergency services to the communities of Lawton and | ||||||||
| Bronson during the work week while the traditional adult EMS volunteers are at their place of employment. The Lawton | ||||||||
| Fire & Rescue under the direction of Ambulance Chief/EMS Instructor, Mr. Ken Eyres, trains and directs the student | ||||||||
| volunteers. Before this program was initiated, emergency services originated from Sioux City resulting in on scene | ||||||||
| delays. Without this outstanding community and school partnership, the lack of emergency medical services would | ||||||||
| place the community in jeopardy. | ||||||||

| The Lawton-Bronson Spirit Club is a community volunteer organization of 65 family community members dedicated to | ||||||||
| supporting, encouraging and advancing athletic, educational, and other school activities throughout the district. They | ||||||||
| cultivate clean wholesome school spirit, promote good sportsmanship, and develop high ideals of character and | ||||||||
| achievement. Through a network of financial and moral support, the L-B Spirit Club walks hand-in-hand with the | ||||||||
| students and teachers in enhancing educational programs that best serves the needs of our kids. | ||||||||

| Transition Night's goal is to ignite interest in career and college planning by providing information to students who | ||||||||

| Beyond the Bell is a community driven project that currently provides afterschool programming to 19 sites within | ||||||||
| Sioux City Public & Catholic Schools. Programming includes educational, recreational and nutritional components. | ||||||||
| Certified teachers are used for the academic component and United Way agencies are utilized for the recreational | ||||||||

| Southeast Polk | Iowa Industrial Technology Exposition | |||||||
| Each spring, Southeast Polk hosts the Iowa Industrial Technology Exposition, a statewide expo to showcase hundreds | ||||||||
| of projects from industrial tech students all over Iowa. The expo is co-sponsored by the Rotary Club of East Polk | ||||||||
| County, which provides funding, scholarships, awards, and judges. Eight hundred and eighty-six students from 49 | ||||||||
| schools across Iowa submitted 1,100 project entries at this years event. | ||||||||

| West Sioux City | Restroom/Concession Complex | |||||||
| Through community involvement, volunteerism, an awarded grant, and donations the school and community have | ||||||||
| constructed a state-of-the-art restroom and concessions complex at no cost to the school district. This complex will | ||||||||
| be used year round by both the school and the community and stands as a monument of pride in what a school and | ||||||||
| a community can accomplish together. | ||||||||

| Wilton | Wilton Partners in Education | |||||||
| Wilton Community Schools is proud of its Partners in Education program, now in its sixteenth year. Our school and | ||||||||
| community have worked together to provide many rewarding experiences for our K-6 students. Activities have | ||||||||
| included steel can recycling, Wilton History Day, and Career Day. We are currently planning a Veterans' Day program. | ||||||||
