Quality Out-of-School Time
The Iowa State University,
Scott County Extension, has partnered with the
Davenport schools for well
over 20 years, with their leadership on the Community
Education Advisory Council,
various committees, and, in particular, out-of- school
time. This past year, the
Extension facilitated the University's research resources
and community expertise to
develope a "logic model" for both the district's and
community's out-of-school
time programs. This evaluation model identifies "best
practices" and
behavioral and academic outcomes. The University's access to and
expertise of evaluation
models and specific data sources allowed this community
to move forward in addressing
quality out-of-school time experiences.
